The intercooler is an air/air type and has nothing to do with the waterpump. 5-.7 PSI of boost, both lost HP under most conditions. We tested a similar setup where they made the crank pulley slightly larger using this method and it generated another 1/2 PSI of boost but because of the extra friction and heat it didn't generate any more HP, the kompressor is at it's limit, spinning it faster didn't produce better results.Īlso, I tried two different intercoolers, both lost about. Some tuners like Carlsson and Renntech give you a larger idler pulley for the same reason, it pushes the belt away from the waterpump pulley. The reason that a tuner would give you a different waterpump pulley is because they can make the crank pulley slightly larger if they recontour waterpump pulley as the belt would otherwise rub. If it's auto, let me know and I'll send you pics on how to lock the flywheel so you can losen the crank bolt. If it's an automatic it's a little more complicated and you'll need an assistant. Installation instructions are on my website ( All you need is to swap the crank pulley, takes about 1-2 hours depending on how motivated you are. You need the pulley for the newer 2.3L motors and ASP is the least expenive route and Brabus is the most expensive. Last time I checked, Opera Design does not make a pulley for your car, they only do the older M111 motors. ![]()
